Tamil Superstar Rajnikanth, who had donned many role in fighting corrupt politicians and baddies in reel life, today took on another 'challenging role' -- to fight for Anna Hazare's cause.
The actor has pledged his support to the fasting crusader against corruption who had been on indefinite fast for the last eight days demanding the passage of Jan Lokpal Bill in both Houses of Parliament bringing both the Prime Minister and higher judiciary under its purview.
In a statement, a copy of
which was released by India Against Corruption which was spearheading
agitations in this city to express solidarity with Anna, Rajini said,
"There can be no doubt that corruption is a dreaded disease that needs
to be weeded out from the Indian Society. "I am very happy that we have a
very able and dedicated leader in Anna Hazare to lead us in this fight
against corruption.
"I whole-heartedly support the India Against Corruption Movement in
their campaign to get Jan Lokpal Bill legislated in Parliament,"
Rajnikanth said and added, 'I congratulate all the Indians who have lent
their support to this bloodless revolution. "This kind of peaceful
movement is possible only in India which is the birthplace of
Satyagraha. I am very proud to be an Indian," he added.
